Here is the story of my art, and how I came to be a photographer.

I have always loved the outdoors. being surrounded by nature. I could, and did, spend endless hours outside, climbing trees, wandering around among the trees, fascinated by everything. As a child I was (and still am) very energetic and full of curiosity and wonder.

The moment when I first truly discovered the wonders of creativity was on a school trip to the museum when I was 10, and how one can capture the beauty of things and portray emotions through drawing, painting, and many other art mediums. I was so transfixed by art and its history that I started looking up drawing techniques and started drawing structures and objects that caught my attention, from window frames to computers, to chairs. I experimented with drawing nature, my favourite to draw were trees; they were also my best. You never saw me without a notepad and pencil in my hand those days.

After many years of drawing, my passion for it waned and eventually ceased altogether.

I left drawing behind for other mediums, like working with Plasticine, and polymer clay. I made little figurines: whole zoos of animals, little people, and lots of penguins, which were my favourite to make.

I still to this day make figurines out of clay and have also expanded into making round boxes out of birch bark, which I harvest myself, as well as many other kinds of crafty things, which I will expand more on near the end of the blurb =D

I got my first camera when I was 16.

I embraced my new passion as a way to overcome the confusing and chaotic feelings that were present in my head at that time. I never left the house without my camera. I got a membership to a local art store (which is no longer in my town), as a registered Artist/Photographer, and joined countless photo contests. One of which was hosted by the local store and I won first prize. A year after winning my first contest I was asked if I wanted my work to be displayed in a local restaurant. Three of my images were sold.

I am most interested in taking pictures of nature, but I have also experimented with other subjects like portrait, event and film photography. Overall, I prefer nature photography because I want to capture the beauty of the natural world, and express to other people how I see the world. I take many different types of nature photography images. For example, I love capturing nature using macro photography -  plants, tiny insects, and water droplets on leaves. I love how you can see things that aren’t usually revealed to the human eye, like the tiny hairs on a leaf, or a bumblebee’s legs.

As I got older my interest in photography grew, and I started thinking about pursuing it as a career. I decided to go to Algonquin College to study in their Photography Department.

I’ve always admired photographers who shoot for National Geographic magazine, and I used to fantasize about working for the magazine .

Studying at Algonquin gave me so many new skills and photo techniques that I never even knew existed. The more I learn about photography and its history, the more I love it.

I have always been a creative person, and with photography it’s more than just trying to get the best image, it’s a way for me to express myself and to show the world my love for the earth and everything beautiful. The beginning of my photography career started out pretty rocky, and there were times where I just wanted to give up, but I’m so glad I stuck with it, because it has given me an outlet to express myself and every photograph is a memory, a beautiful moment that I can't help but smile when looking back at them.

Photography is still a big part of who I am but these days it's more of just a passion , something I enjoy doing here and there.

I also work with many other different mediums of art, like polymer clay, birch bark where I make boxes., as well as wood burning, where I make designs for welcome signs or magnets.

Right now I just do a bit of whatever catches my fancy.

Hope you like my website and enjoyed learning about how I got to where I am today - a nature photographer and craftsperson!
